Thiruvananthapuram : The Central Bureau of Investigation has named the CPM’s Kannur district secretary P Jayarajan as an accused in the gruesome Kathiroor Manoj murder case. Jayarajan has been named as the 25th accused under Section 18 of Unlawful Activities Act (UAPA) for con Prevention spiracy behind the murder of Manoj, Jila Shareerik Shikshan Pramukh of RSS in Kannur, in the charge sheet it filed in the Thalaserry district session’s court on Thursday.

The charge sheet comes two days after the court had dismissed his anticipatory bail petition in the case. 42-year-old Manoj was hacked to death in the politically- volatile Kathiroor in Kannur district on September 1, 2014  by a group of CPI-M workers. Majority of the 23 persons arrested in connection with the crime are either office bearers of the CPI (M) or workers.

CBI, which took over the investigation in the case, had filed a charge sheet against accused in the Thalassery court in March last year.

Jayarajan is already the 32nd accused in the case pertaining to the murder of Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) worker Abdul Shukoor in Kannur on February 20, 2012. He is on bail in the case.
