Jihadi Gang Under Arrest For Harassing Dalit Girl

Kunnathoor (Kollam): A gang of Jihadists are reported to have harassed a Dalit girl who was returning home after tuitions. The Jihadists, numbering five were said to have been returning from the local mosque after Ramzan prayers when they accosted the victim near Karali railway track, Shastamkotta. They were arrested following a complaint registered by the girl’s parents. However there are reports of the girl’s parents being subject to pressure to withdraw the complaint against the Jihadists who are alleged to be associated with terror networks.

Sources have stated that the perpetrators followed the terrified victim on bikes, showering lewd and suggestive comments. “They tried to molest the victim, which terrified her. She ran into a near by house screaming and took shelter there. Her parents were alerted following which a complaint was registered with Shastamkotta police,” said local sources.

However the girl and her family continues to be terrified. Sources have stated that a local leaders, who are alleged to have strong links with various terror groups have been seen moving in and around the police station following the arrest of the Jihadists. “They are doing all they can, to get the marauders free, using their influence. Police are said to have threatened the girl’s parents, to get the charges repealed.”

Reports of the police trying to shield the molesters spread like wildfire. They were soon forced to slap non bailable charges under SC ST (prevention of atrocities) act, and present those accused in Juvenille Court.
