Widespread conversion activities in Koothatukulam

Koothatukulam: Pentecostal Christians is engaged in extensive conversion activities in the Koothatukulam region comprising of Kizhakombbu, Edayar and Vatakara.


 


In the last 20 days they have managed to influence 50 Hindu families. They have instructed these families not to follow any Hindu traditions and rituals and insists on joining the pentacoste group during their prayers.Among these Hindu families, two members of a family were converted to assemblies of a god church group.


 


 In protest against this conversion,the SNDP shakha workers of Kizhakombbu had marched to the headquarters of assemblies of god church at Edayar. In the last few years, the Pentecost missionaries used to flock to this region to conduct conversion activities.


 


The female workers among this group visits the Hindu families and brainwashes them to get converted. A resident of Mavelikkara, pastor Jacob Koshy who lives in Edayar is leader of this team. Anita and
Raju of Kizhakombbu were offered huge sums of money to get converted.


 


 The SNDP shakha workers will submit a complaint to the district collector against this issue. The natives of this region said that on sundays after the mass the Pentecost workers reach Hindu homes to work on converting them. They used to take the children and women to the Pentecost church at Edayar peedika thrice a week. These activities were done very secretly. They induce the Hindu families by offering money and lucrative jobs.


 


The Pentecost sabha indulges in converting other christian sects also. Two weeks ago in Kizhakombbu a head of a Christian family was pressurised which led to  his suicide. This family were from the Jacobite christian sect and two of their members were converted to Pentecost group. The head of the family who opposed this was harassed and he was forced to suicide.


For the past 10 years the Pentecosts are operating from their own building at Edayar peedika. The natives of this place complain that one doctor who runs a hospital at Elanzhi assists the Pentecost in their acitivities
