We are Umman Chandi’s police, Not Modi’s , screamed DYSP P K Varghese and SI M J Jiju while beating up Hindu leaders in Irinjalakuda.

Police action was aimed at Hindu leaders who questioned Church’s decision to take their procession through Moorkanadu Bhagvati temple , in Alumparambu Irinjalakuda.

Church authorities gained permission for procession through temple premises from Govt. controlled Cochin Devaswom Board. Due to timely action by Hindu leaders , Cochin Devaswom board withdrawn the permission.

Church authorities with the support of Police attempted to continue procession despite protest from Hindus and permission withdrawal by Devaswom board itself.

Hindu aikya Vedi state leader K P Haridas suffered severe eye injury , HAV leader R V Babu’s hands were fractured and Swami Bhargavaraman was brutally injured following police action.

Sensing heavy protest from Hindus under Hindu Aikya Vedi, Church authorities diverted their way of procession finally.

Hindus observed hartal in Irinjalakuda today, in protest against police action.
