The Kerala State Consumer Commission has ordered the Christ King Convent School of Mananthavady, Wayanad to pay a compensation of Rs. 4, 90,000/- to the parents of late Sandeep, a 2nd Standard student of the School.

Sandeep had been bitten by a snake at the School. Though the School Bus and other conveyances were available, the School authorities walked the child to the hospital one kilometre away. He was beyond help by the time he reached the hospital and passed away.

The State Commission held the School guilty of inhumanity and gross negligence and ordered the compensation, on the father’s Appeal before it.
