Temple board divided over ‘e-darshan’ plan
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The idea to start ‘e-darshan’ facility for the Sabarimala Ayyappa devotees by Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) came in for sharp criticism with a board member opposing the move.
Reacting to TDB President C K Guptan statement in this regard, board member P Narayanan said what Guptan had said was not the opinion of the board and if such a proposal came up formally it would be opposed.
“The idea of making arrangements for ‘e-darshan’ would be violative of customs and traditions followed by the shrine,” he said.
“No such proposal has so far come up before the board and it would be opposed if such an idea was brought before it,” Narayanan said.
Earlier in the day, durin a meet-the-press programme, Guptan had said that TDB was working on an arrangement to enable ‘e-darshan’ for Ayyappa devotees through the internet.
