RSS activist hacked to death, bandh in Chitoor

Pioneer News Service | Palakkad

An RSS worker Suresh, who was returning home after a festival in a local temple, was hacked to death by a group of CPI(M) men. Suresh was attacked in the wee hours of Friday morning and the local people and police said that CPI(M) activists were behind the attack. There was a minor scuffle between the RSS and the CPI(M) workers in the temple premises the other day.

According to the police, this could have developed into a major issue resulting in the unfortunate killing of Suresh.

The RSS called for a dawn to dusk hartal in Chitoor to protest the killing of its worker and charged the CPI(M) of orchestrating such heinous actions throughout the State. The RSS leadership said that the CPI(M) was playing dirty politics and was now in the forefront of elimination tactics. The leaders of the organisation said that the presence of Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, a known leader with goonda activities, being the Home Minister of the State, the CPI(M) local leaders and mafia elements in the party were now in an attacking spree.

There were reasons to believe that the CPI(M) local leadership in all the areas of the State were now conducting a hate campaign against the Sangh organisations and was creating problems to the law and order situation of the State. The CPI(M) leadership was also admitting in private that the total control of the Kannur lobby of the party led by the party secretary Pinarayi Vijayan was the major reason for the party turning into a mafia leadership in a short interval of time.

There are also reports that the CPI(M) was planning to revenge on the killing of two of its workers allegedly by the RSS some time ago and that this was also one of the reasons for the retaliation from the CPI(M) part. Moreover, the party leadership was not in a position to control its cadres who on their own were trying to establish their writ on the political enemies of the party using professional gangs.

The RSS leadership alleged that the CPI(M) had started its killing spree and the party was slowly starting to use its muscle power in other parts of the State. Political observers were of the opinion that the CPI(M) was trying to flex its muscles in all parts of the State and that this was to cover up the failure of the Government in easing the living conditions of the people of the State.

The CPI(M) leadership on the other hand alleged that the RSS was trying to spread its venom and that the CPI(M) was the only organisation which was defending these attacks. The CPI(M) leaders while talking to The Pioneer said that the CPI(M) had lost several of its workers to the RSS murder tactics and that recently a party worker Vishnu was assassinated by the RSS men.

However, observers were of the opinion that the CPI(M) whenever it was in power was trying to create an atmosphere of violence and that the recent killing of the RSS worker Suresh was part of the wider dimensions of the Marxist killing tactics.
