‘Strange Bedfellows’

via H. Balakrishnan published on March 6, 2007

The ‘scholarly’ findings of our ‘comrades’ in their 25 point Charter to woo Muslims,  include among others,

(a) specific budgetary allocation in development schemes for Muslims in ‘proportion’ to their population,(b) increase in funds for Wakf Boards,(c) special housing schemes for poor Mulsims, (d)schools, polytechnics, colleges and vocational training institutions in Muslim majority areas and (d) increase in scholarships and stipends for Muslims.

One wonders how, ‘comrade’ Karat’s charter is any different from that presented to the then Viceroy,Lord Minto,on 01 OCT 1906 at Shimala,by a delegation of Muslims, led by the Aga Khan? Among others, the charter of demands included: (a)employment of due proportion of Muslims in Govt.service,(b) abolition of competitive examinations for recruitment to the service,(c) appointment of Muslim judges in every High Court and Chief Court,(d) Muslim electoral colleges for election to Legislative Councils, and, (e) communal electorate for municipalities.

History also tells us that once Islam gains the superiority,it is the ‘comrades’ who are the ‘first victims’ to the ‘Sword of Islam’!! Pakistan and more recently Bangladesh bear evidence to this FACT. Nandigram is also a pointer of the shape of things to come in West Bengal!! Inded the two make’starnge bedfellows’ !!

Arun Shourie in his brilliant book: ‘The Only Fatherland- Communists,Quit India and The Soviet Union’, had totally exposed the anti-national political activities of the Communist Party of India during the period of II World War from 1939-1945 and more particularly during the days of Quit India Movement in August 1942 and thereafter. It was disgraceful to read that all the top Communist leaders of the time like P C Joshi (General Secretary of CPI), Ranadive, S A Dange and many others were actually extending their full underground cooperation to the British Government and at the same time acting and pretending on the public platform as if they were fully behind the Quit India Movement of Mahatma Gandhi as his friends and comrades.

Comrade Karat’s ‘charter’ is in keeping with the character of the communists. They were, during the Freedom Movement, and are, in Independemt India, HER “QUISLINGS”.
