Kannur: According to reports that have just come in, a member of Communist Party (Marxist) has been dismissed from the party for doing a Shayana Pradakshinam for actor Jagathy Sreekumar. The actor recently suffered a major car accident, which saw him in a critical stage for many days at a stretch.

The person who has been suspended is PM Sumesh, who is a DYFI leader and Branch Committee Member of Puniyanam, which comes under Moozhikkunnu Local Committee. He was part of a group that did Shayanapradakshinam, for the health and longevity of the actor who is now recovering from the accident.

The participation in Shayana Pradakshinam became a controversy in the party, following which party leadership constituted an enquiry. Having found the matter to be true, it was unanimously decided to dismiss Sumesh from the party. The decision was taken at the Branch Committee meeting convened on Sunday. However, the decision taken by the party evoked extremely unfavourable responses from the youth cadre of the area, which lead to a showdown of strong protests as well.
