Organised Star Singer

via Synonymous published on August 3, 2010

Usually a reality show in one of the many TV channels is of not of any significance to the society at large. But the popularity of Idea Star Singer in Asianet channel had made it much more noticeable than others. After more than an year of contests and the frequent drama of danger zones and elimination rounds, it was crystal clear that the real star singer this time is Mr.Sreenath. He is versatile in singing and performance. He has the required range, dedication, expertise, training and all that it takes to become a star singer. He never performed badly and he never came into the danger zone. Yet he was cut down in the final show and the stardom hijacked by an above-average singer through a cleverly organized sms campaign.

Shri. Joby John is definitely a good singer, but he is nowhere near Sreenath in comparison. On the advice of his god-fathers, Joby has been trying to work out sentiments for some time now. He is from a poor family and has struggled to learn music. But that is not the criterion for becoming the star, especially to claim the top slot from a pool of thousand odd singers. The organized church saw an opportunity and stepped in with their grand scheme at this time. The media savvy church knows that the key to success in the final show lies in mobilizing an sms campaign. They have done it well and systematic rise in the number of sms from one lakh to two lakhs to over 5 lakhs in a calibrated manner clearly exposes the hands of organized church machinery behind Joby’s success. This can well become the next bait of the organized church for harvesting more and more souls in Kerala.

The ultimate lesson in this episode is very clear – the organized church will never learn. They will always poke their arms into all unnecessary cases and get their fingers burnt or even hand chopped off. But still they will never stop their inherent urge for acting smart and belittling the deserving. Organised religious conversion, by offering milk powder, liquor, money or even jobs abroad and large scale maligning of Hindu religious beliefs have been their core business so far. But now the aged Bishops are trying their techniques in unrelated and unnecessary areas. Love Jihad and Love Harvest are continuing unabated in Kerala society. Who will win – Jihad or Harvest? We will wait and watch the reality show.
