Now Dhwajastambhams in Mosques !

published on November 7, 2012

Churches in Kerala have developed a new craze for erecting Dhwajastambhams (flagmast) copied from head to foot like those in temples. The Dhwajastambhams have dwarfed the cross, and changed the face of the Church itself. In fact it will be no exaggeration to state that Christian church fathers have become the Brand Ambassadors for Hindu temple rituals and rites !

Most surprisingly, Islam which prides in its Arab culture and traditions have started copying from Hindu temples. Fundamentalists like Zakir Naik and other militant organisations will be horrified to learn that a Mosque in Kerala has started sporting a traditional Hindu Dhwajastambham. The Mosque is located on Alwaye – Perumbavoor (now a hub of Islamic fundamentalism) road, on a place called Mudickal. The Hindu Dhwajastambham stands proud and erect in front of the Mosque.

Does the Dhwajastambham has any relevance for these desert religions. The Dhwajastambham denotes the spine of the deity enshrined inside the Temple. These desert religions claim that they dont have any deities or idol worship (though Christianity is full of idol worship only ). How then can their worship places sport such structures ?

Hinduisation of the desert religions is in progress, let us await the return of the lapsed Hindus back to Hinduism.
