State Minority Commission in Tamilnadu is considering ban on Hindu religious function in Muslim dominated villages in Tamilnadu.State Minority Commission have summoned Tamilnadu Police and a Hindu representative based on the petition filed by Muslims in V.kalathur village in Perambalur.

According to the petition Muslims feel threatened when Hindu religious processions are going through their village and accuse Police forces for not providing them any security .
Ramaswamy, Hindu representative made it clear that these processions are taking place through traditional routes . Ramaswamy told ““Hindus have become minorities at Vkalathur and our fundamental rights are trampled upon when we are not allowed to take our processions through the routes through which we have been traditionally taking our processions. But for the protection offered by the district administration, we will find it difficult to live in the village and I am in half a mind to get myself converted.”

Superintendent of Police T.K.Rajasekaran made it clear that Hindu processions were going through these routes for ages and the problems started only when Muslims started objecting to these religious rights of Hindus.

Responding to the complaint by Muslims that ‘When there was a complaint, 103 Muslims, including those studying and those about to leave abroad for jobs, were arrested, while it was only three persons on the Hindus’ side who were taken into custody’- SP told that – When a marriage procession of Hindus was stopped by the Muslims police were left with no other option but to arrest 70 Muslims as it apprehended serious unrest.” The SP also said that though invitations were sent to Muslims nine times for talks, none responded.

What right these Minority Commissions have  to accept a petition like this questioning the religious rights of Hindus? Why in this so called SECULAR nation we need such Minority Commissions who can challenge the rights of Majority in this country?
