Murder attempt by CPI(M) goons – 4 RSS activists critical

via HK Correspondent published on March 7, 2010

Four persons, all of them RSS activists, have been admitted to KMC Hospital Mangalapuram in a critical condition after they were attacked and seriously injured by an armed CPI(M) gang on Saturday, around midnight, when they were returning after the Thalappoli Festival at Irinavu Sreekurmbakkavu. The injured are: Arun of Vadeshwaram Keecherikkunnil (21), Suil Babu (20), Praveen (23), and Vineet (22).

Among the injured, Sunil and Vineet have undergone emergency surgery. The foursome, while returning around midnight after the festival, were waylaid and attacked by the armed gang, who were waiting to execute their task. The four young men were attacked with lethal weapons including swordstick, iron rod, and a hook-like special weapon. The assailants completely destroyed the motorbikes that the victims were riding.

Apparently the CPI(M) gang unleashed violence based on prior information that the RSS activists would attend the festival. The victims were surrounded, held tight, and wounded with lethal weapons. For many hours, the assailants, shouting gory war cries, did not allow anybody to reach to the rescue of the injured, who had fallen unconscious and were bleeding profusely. The victims were at last taken to Pariyaram Medical College for initial treatment and subsequently to Mangalore Kasturba Medical College by local people and police, who arrived after the incident. A 30-member CPI(M) gang, which included Suresh of Kannapuram, Sajir of Irinavi, Prasannan of Karikkumkulam, Anchampeedikayil Sukesh, and Kallyasseri Polytechnic College chairman Dijith is said to have carried out the attack. Kannavam Police has registered a case and begun enquiry.
