Missionaries & Mujahids

The recently concluded Mujahid conference at Changaramkulam (it was ‘Sankara’mkulam earlier) might have been low in substance but very high on symbolism. The message to the so-called majority community was loud and clear. The renewed and forceful activities of White Missionaries and Arab Mujahids have given enough warning to the leaders of the fragmented majority community about their intentions. It was very clear from the video footages in the TV channels that not all understood the Arabic speeches. There was not much interest too because people were walking around in the premises when the high voltage speeches (most of them in Arabic) were going on. But the symbolism behind arranging such a well attended conference in Malappuram district of Kerala must not miss the attention of any Keralite.

What is highly symbolic is the language used and the venue. Arabic is not only their sacred language but the medium that unites Muslims across national boundaries. When Indian, Pakistani, Indonesian and Malaysian Muslims talk to each other in Arabic in the Gulf, there is a different kind of synergy among them. There is much more that unites them than what is dividing them. It is not the same as English between any other religionists from different countries. English is alien to everyone including the British now. The religious and cultural push by Arabs will be much more forceful, ruthless and far more effective now in Kerala. The large percentage of Gulf related population will be helpful to them in any case. And now there is the official presence of Dubai Ports and Dubai Internet City in the business and industry. Over and above all these, there is the well organized political presence of organisations like IUML, NDF, INL and PDP.

In the face of this renewed onslaught, the somewhat organized groups within the majority community are presenting a pathetic sight. Ego clashes among petty leaders in SNDP and NSS is doing much more damage than what they can imagine. By aligning with the Catholics for the sake of pocketing the recruitment money in a few schools & colleges, NSS is digging its own grave. What their founding fathers have built up by tremendous efforts will soon be destroyed by these grave-diggers. Quite in contrast, Dollars and Riyals will accelerate the evil designs of the missionaries and mujahids. Almost all the institutions have been penetrated and it is now a matter of time before the inevitable happens in Kerala. As usual, let us again pray for a miraculous turn of events in Kerala that will unite what is left of the majority community in Kerala.
