Manorama TV defending freedom of excretion

Letter to Manorama TV Editor , Regarding Satirical show THIRUVAAL ETHIRVAAL of 10 pm 6th June 2011

I did enjoy the Epi-dose, specially the one showing Baby Ramdev as a Disco dancer. Congratulations.

However, one thing occurred to me as curious. Would we show more visual treats of this sort about any padre of the Pentecostal variety or the Muringoor variety? Or with someone like our dear Madani?

It is not difficult to find similar dances by non-Hindu spiritualists; and I am very sure that you would not lose any occasion to present some such, shortly.

If we do not treat all religions equally satirically, it would by very un-Manorama-like. Manorama has the great reputation of fighting Sir CP etc as per ‘current’ history. Such courage is very rare. You are a great inspiration to all lovers of freedom and freedom of expression.

Further, if we treat Hinduism alone as good for satire, uncharitable souls might say that Manorama is afraid; that the mere thought of ‘minority’ displeasure makes it worry for its anal-retention processes; that more toilets might have to be built in the Studios, not to speak of more laundry machines to wash night-soiled staff clothing. It would be defending freedom of excretion, instead of expression.

This would all be infra-dig. Let us prove it all wrong by secularistically satirising one or two non-Hindu saints as well.

Warm regards.
