Mannath Padmanabhan gets due place at CPM meet

ALAPPUZHA: Mannath Padmanabhan getting a place in the CPM scheme of things. It might be hard to believe for all those who follow Kerala politics keenly.

This is precisely what had happened at the inaugural session of the CPM district conference which began at Cherthala on Friday.

The writing pad given to the delegates and the mediapersons who attended the inaugural session of the CPM conference contained the cover page which prominently displayed Mannath Padmanabhan along with Marx,Engles, Lenin, Sree Narayana Guru, Ayyankali, EMS, AKG, E.K. Nayanar
and Krishna Pillai.

At a time when the CPM leaders including the most vociferous Cooperation Minister G. Sudhakaran go on criticising Samudaya Acharyan Mannaath Padmanabhan for his negative role in Liberation Struggle and his retrograde policies, the writing pad displaying Mannathu Padmanabhan intrigued political observers.

The pictures of Narayana Guru and Ayyankali earlier too adored the backdrop of many CPM conferences and party publicity mouthpieces.

But placing Mannathu Padmanabhan’s picture in CPM material is said to be a new trend.

What is more interesting is that the writing pad was sponsored by the Cherthala unit of the SFI. Is it the lack of proper party study class that made the party’s student supporters to venture into such an act ?

Or is it a casual mistake committed by any SFI leader ? It is unclear.
