KOTTAYAM: A look-out notice has been issued by the police for Charlie pastor alias Charlie K Mathew, who had allegedly cheated the faithful of crores of rupees, through the Divine Fest Worship Centre here.

The Centre was run by him for quite some time at Kanhikuzhy here, but was abandoned a few months ago. It is alleged that Charlie pastor and his wife Shobha, after forming the Sharon Charitable Trust, had collected amounts totaling several crores of rupees from the faithful.

The money was reportedly used for procuring land and constructing a worship centre.

Those who advanced him money had been given postdated cheques.

However, the pastor and wife vanished all of a sudden, leaving those who had given their hard-earned money, high and dry. Many aggrieved persons brought the issue before the police and other authorities. The pastor had contacted a few of them over phone requesting to withdraw the complaint.

However, promises handed out by him were not met, forcing lenders to mount their moves.
