Thiruvananthapuram: A group of DYFI thugs attacked
the Peroorkkada police station on Wednesday night demanding release of their
comrades Ranjith and Sudheesh, arrested in the evening under non-bailable charges
for their involvement in several criminal cases and cases under the Weapons
Act. Circle Inspector of Police Ashokan suffered wounds in both hands in the
DYFI attack.

The Peroorkkada police had
arrested the two DYFI activists late on Wednesday evening. Hearing about this,
a group of 20 DYFI workers, who were engaged in a Red Volunteer rehearsal for
the Pinarayi Vijayan’s Nava Kerala March, rushed into the police station
demanding their release.

The police told the gang that the duo could not be released as they had been
arrested on warrant issued under non-bailable charges, but they were not ready
to listen. Rejecting the requests for peace, the gang attacked the circle
inspector and others present in the police station.

When the Home Minister himself who challenged
law and order in the country by stating “If needed , CPI(M) would make bombs
even at police stations” is sitting in the top the public can only sympathise
for the pity situation of sincere Police officers.
