How can an Indian become Vatican’s Minister?

via HK published on February 22, 2011

Kozhikode Diocese Bishop Joseph Kalathiparambil, has
been appointed as the Secretary of Pontifical Council at Vatican by
Pope Benedict XVI. The appointment order from Pope Benedict XVI read
‘Bishop Joseph Kalathiparambil is made Secretary of Pontifical
Council for the pastrol care of the migrant and itinerant people’.

Being Vatican an
independent country and Pontifical Secretary of the Pope in Vatican
is a Minister in the Vatican government, Will Indian Government ask
him to surrender his Indian passport repeal his Indian citizenship?

As long as Indian Government won’t have a provision
for dual citizenship – How
can he owe allegiance to another independent country and be its
Minister, then? Deepika daily reports that the job is that of the
Foreign minister in charge of ‘pravasi’ matters!
