Hindu priest again hacked to death in Bangladesh by suspected Islamist.

Shyamananda Das killing in BDAtul Brahmachari | HENB | Dhaka | July 1, 2016:: Again Hindu priest belonging to Gaudiya Vaishnava sect has been hacked to death at a temple in Bangladesh, police and senior administrative officials said.

Shyamanonda Das, 45, was killed on Friday within his temple named Shri Shri Radhamadan Gopal Moth at Kasthasagora village in the Jhinaidah district, 300km south west of the capital, Dhaka.

“When he was preparing morning prayers with flowers at the temple early in the morning, three young people came by on a motorbike, killed him with machetes and fled away,” Mahbubur Rahman, the head of the local administration, said.

“To make sure he died, they rained multiple blows on his head and neck with sharp weapons”, a witness said.

Das was rushed to the Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital, but was declared dead by doctors around 6am.

The witness told police that the faces of the killers were covered with ‘gamchha’ (a local variant of towel). One of them was carrying a long-bladed machete.

Temple treasurer Prabhash Kumar said Das hailed from Musuridanga village in Narhail Sadar Upazila.

The very Jehadi style of hacking resembles with other brutal killings of so many writers, publishers, free-thinkers, social activists, Hind-Buddhist-Christian priests, atheists, foreigners, professor, nurse and even commoners by Bangladeshi Islamists since past few years. In most of the cases IS sympathizers Islamist organisations or IS directly took the responsibility of these killings. Using ‘machetes’ for targeted killing is a popular trend among Bangladesh Jehadis.

“The nature of killing was similar with the local militants, but we cannot say more at the moment,” Mahbubur told the Reuters news agency.

Bangladesh, a Muslim-majority nation of 160 million people with Islam as its State Religion, has seen a surge in violent attacks in recent months on liberal activists, members of minority Muslim sects and other religious groups.

Al Jazeera’s Maher Sattar, reporting from Dhaka, said the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL, also known as ISIS) and al-Qaeda have claimed responsibility for some of the recent killings but police officials deny that those groups have any involvement and blame local organisations!

“The characteristics of the murder – three men on a motor cycle, hacking to death, these are similar to a number of attacks that have taken place in Bangladesh over the past few years,” he said.

“Hindus are the largest minority group in Bangladesh and comprise about nine percent of the population. But this is a number that has dwindled since Bangladesh was formed and many Hindus we’ve been told have tried to make their way to India or are thinking about what their future might be.”

In recent Radical Muslims and Jehadi organisations in Bangladesh have been targeting the Hindu Priests and Temple owners to frighten Hindus and other minorities for their open practice of religion and to grab temple lands etc. This trend in Bangladesh is  growing up rapidly.

As per report of the Dhaka Tribune, Islamic state claimed both the murder of Shyamananda Das on Friday and another killing of a Buddhist monk in Bandarbon on Thursday. The rally of IS has no sign to stop in Bangladesh.
