Fake Passport Racket Mafia in Kerala Unearthed: Police Officers Involved.

In a shocking revelation, Kerala police is trying to unearth a well branched out mafia that works in league with police officers, to issue passport to anti social elements. Two police officers Ashokan and Chandran from Kanjangadu police station, who were summoned for interrogation in connection with the same, have been suspended from service.
According to a report published in Malayalam daily Mangalam, a report submitted to the Ministry of Home Affairs by IG of Northern area, DIG S Sreejith, has stated that the mafia has its roots in the District of Kasaragod, North Kerala. The report states that out of the 4 ½ lakh passports issued from the district of Kasaragod, a sizable number of them are fake.
Following reports of the mafia being linked with terror modules, Chief Minister of Kerala Oomen Chandy has directed DGP Jacob Punnoose to submit at the earliest, a report seeking deployment of special armed police force in the district of Kasargode. The report will state in length, the need for around 800 personnel to maintain law and order in the district. This was stated by a police officer, who gave an interview to Mangalam.
The report also states that the special armed forces that will be deployed, will be similar to the Central Reserve Armed Force. Out of these forces, 100 officers will be in charge of tracking down cases of fake passports. They will be assigned the task of conducting a detailed study of each passport issued from Kerala. So far, police have identified 147 specific cases of fake passport from the district of Kasargode.
Earlier Central Intelligence Bureau had also issued a forewarning that a fake passport racket with link to terror modules is being operated in the state, under the watchful eyes of a Dy. SP. A request from the Intelligence Bureau has been sent to the Ministry of Home Affairs to reopen 24, 000 cases that have been registered in connection with terrorism. Out of this, a total of 11,44 people have been indicted solely from the dist of Kasargode. And from this colossal number, 4800 people have been arrested so far.
