“Eulogy for a ‘SECULAR’ CONGRESS -CHAMCHA” !

Dear Sir,

Reference the report – ‘Is this the end of the road for the Jan Lokpal Movement?’ – (TNIE – 29 Dec).

This report only serves to reinforce the statement of the Hindi film actor Anupam Kher’s statement on a panel discussion in the T.V. Channel – Headlines Today – on 28 Dec. Anupam Kher was spot on in emotionally telling the anchor that – ‘ We are a THANKLESS NATION ‘. There are many examples tp prove this point. One would suffice !!

The Karnataka Govt. was in the process of constructing a ‘National War Memorial’ to salute the brave martyrs of the Indian Armed Forces in defence of the Motherland. A nearby Housing Society of ‘Macaulay Putras/Putris’ found this Memorial a ‘hindrance’ to their ‘Morning Walks’ !! The case went right upto the Supreme Court, where their Lordships ‘dismissed’ the case of these morning walkers.

The second aspect in the report, appeared to me as an ‘eulogy for a Congress CHAMCHA’ – the journalist Kumar Ketkar. That he is a ‘secular’ and a ‘Congress BOOTLICKER’ can be guaged from his ‘pearls of journalistic wisdom’ that comes forth from him on T.V. !! He was also one of the ‘select FIVE’ Editors, whom the P.M. had invited for a ‘tete-a-tete’ recently !! And, your reporter gushes forth with Kumar Ketkar’s ‘quotable quotes’ !!

(A) – “In a city of 1.5 crore population when only three or four thousand turn up for Hazare’s fast of which the majority of
them have come out of curiosity and to wile away time it means the movement has come to its end”.

(B) – We can forsee that there will not be any impact of the Jan Lokpal movement in the forthcoming civic elections from the
poor response of the people at MMRDA grounds in the last two days”.

(C) – There may be some benefit to the BJP in the Parliamentary elections which will get some mileage on the anti-Congress
sentiments generated by the Jan Lokpal Movement. This may happen as Hazare’s movement has consolidated the discontent
against corruption and non-governance”.

(D) He remarked that the Hazare phenomenon was a balloon created by the media and now the media is expressing surprise at the poor response.

WOW !! ‘WORDS OF ‘SECULAR’ WISDOM’ indeed !! Lost on your paper is the FACT that but for the ‘pressure’ exerted by Anna Hazare’s Movement, the non-performing UPA would never have brought out the Lokpal Bill. How ‘ THANKLESS CAN WE GET ‘ ?

Lost on your paper, also, is the fact that this ‘CONGRESS CHAMCHA’ Kumar Ketkar, was till recently the Editor of the daily ‘LOKSATTA’, belonging to your ‘Express Group’ !!

A ‘blog’ report of Mar 9, 2011 stated :

” Loksatta Editor Kumar Ketkar, who is facing multiple court cases for malicious reporting and for making false allegations has been finally expelled out of Loksatta by Express Group. By writing articles making childish and baseless allegations, Kumar Ketkar had invited series of court cases against him and Express Group. Dapoli based three social workers have started legal action against Ketkar for his baseless articles, also notices has been served to Express Group for Ketkar’s articles. Immediately after receiving legal notices, Express Group appointed noted journalist and writer Girish Kuber as executive editor and started sidelining Kumar Ketkar. But group wanted to compel Ketkar to resign and quit the Editor’s post on his own. But as Ketkar didn’t quit the post, Express Group fired him from the Editor’s post of Loksatta”.

The ‘blog’ further reported :

” Since last couple of years Ketkar was writing articles packed of lies, targeting Hindu organisations without any reason. Kumar Ketkar’s baseless articles has eroded Loksatta’s reader base to dangerous low, which gave chance to other Marathi newspapers to establish in Mumabi, Pune and other major cities. To recapture lost readers Express Group seriously planned to act against Kumar Ketkar as professional losses were very high. And finally Group acted tough and expelled Ketkar from Loksatta “.

The blog concluded :

Evidently it has fallen on ‘deaf ears’ and ‘blind eyes’ at the offices of ‘The New Indian Express’ !!
