Christians threaten to revert to Hinduism

VILLUPURAM: Exposing the deep-seated animosities and divisions within the fold, over 20,000 caste Christians of Eraiyur village have threatened to revert to Hinduism, unless a separate parish was provided to the Dalit Christians there.

A parish in Eraiyur village was devastated by clashes between the two groups a fortnight ago. It all started with the Archbishop Antony Anandarayar permitting Dalit Christians to undertake a funeral procession on Church Road, a privilege they had been denied for more than a century.

Protesting this privilege to Dalit converts, caste Christians have threatened to revert to Hinduism.

HK Comments: Hindu Leaders should make sure that No one is being converted back to Hinduism with a hope of practicing caste based discrimination, once back to Hindu fold. Hinduism is not the stage for those who ditched their Religion for the sake of few material benefits.Every one should be welcomed back with a condition that they will not practice any caste bias any more as practiced in Christianity.
