Catholic Bishops lament again over Gharwapsi

published on January 31, 2015

The Catholic Bishops Conference of India (CBCI) has sought Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s urgent intervention to end “anxieties of the community” over issues like “Ghar Wapsi” and “Saffronisation of education.” The church’s strong concern over these matters will be expressed in a pastoral letter to be read out in churches across the country, the forthcoming Sunday.

It is quite amusing to observe this scenario- when Karma bites them back. The church which spearheaded conversion activities across the nation by hook and crook now cries foul to gain international attention.

The Central Government on its part has conveyed, without any reservations, its readiness in implementing Anti Conversion Law. But this is causing soreness among Bishops who should understand that secularism is not a one way street.

Hindus have every right to bring back misguided souls who opted your religion out of ignorance. Let us remind you the oft repeated statement issued by you to justify conversion until now – “Our Constitution provides all rights to it’s citizens who profess and propagate once religion” – and that includes Hindus as well.

Now coming to ‘Saffronisation of education’ -Sanskrit is not merely a language,it  is the life line of the spiritual consciousness of India. Just like you promote Syriac Aramaic languages and Muslims promote Arabic, Hindus in the country have every right to promote Sanskrit.

Indians voted Narendra Modi to power inspite of your pastoral letters in Sunday churches against him. This is not only to rescue the nation from corruption and under development, but also to revive Hindu pride. Nationalistic Christians in the country know quite well that your fear mongering is baseless and no Hindu is a threat to your religion as long as there is mutual respect.

Unlike your scriptures, we were not taught to look down upon others based on the faith they follow. When Christianity got completely wiped out from it’s place of origin and nearby countries, it was India who gave you all right to propagate and profess your religion. Kindly don’t misuse your rights.
