Campaign against Onam and Jihadi double standards
The campaign against Onam by Keralite Jihadi fundamentalist’s from Middle east exhorting their brethren in Kerala through social media once again exposes their double standards.
1. Can these Islamists create awareness among the businessmen of their own community about this “unislamic festival” so that they will shut their shops during Onam?
2. Can Muslim businessmen voluntarily forgo the crores of rupees spent by Hindus during Onam by closing their shops? (at least for 10 days from Atham till Thiruvonam).
3. Will the poor among devout Muslims say No to subsidies for groceries in Supplyco and Maveli stores during Onam?
4. What about Muslim employees working in govt. or pvt. sector? Will they refuse to take the festival allowance or bonuses offered by their employers during Onam?
5. Will they ask their Muslim film producers who now control Mollywood not to release any movies during Onam?
Unless the Muslims sacrifice all these bounties connected with Onam, the foolish ideas mooted by the Islamists will remain mere gibberish.
The typical response to the above by moderate Muslims will be that the Islamist’s view cannot be taken as the general view of all the Muslims. At the same time they won’t even make a whimper against the Islamists for such irresponsible statements.
