Amrita TV News insults Mata Amritanandamayi Devi!

via HK Correspondent published on August 25, 2007

Those who watched yesterday’s (24.8.2007) Amrita TV news would have been surprised the way the channel’s editorial team insulted Mata Amritanandamayi Devi by sidelining her announcement of one of the biggest-ever welfare projects to the third position among Amrita TV’s top news stories. Amrita News dedicated yesterday’s top two stories to a criminal and Christian land mafia leader called Kuruvila. The atheists of Amrita News’ editorial team pushed Amma’s Rs 2 billion welfare project story to the third position, as part of the team’s hidden agenda to black out Hindu organizations and spiritual leaders and their selfless service.

The Kuruvila issue may be a hot story for Kerala’s media but certainly not for the people of Kerala.  Kuruvila was already known as a fraudster before he was sworn in as a minister. How many people in Kerala are worried about this Kuruvila? Will the society benefit in any way whether he resigns or not? Why should a common man worry about a third-grade criminal and vote-bank politician like Kuruvila?

Now let us see the other side, the selfless service of Mata Amritanandamayi Devi. One of the biggest-ever welfare projects by an NGO was not an important story for Kerala’s media! Amma announced free education for 30,000 children and the creation of 5,000 employment training centres which will benefit more than 50,000 women — something beyond the imagination of Kerala’s vote-bank politicians and their parties.

Amrita News viewers would have been happy if the TV channel owned by Amma gave top priority to this news, besides presenting a detailed story and a discussion on the huge project. But unfortunately Amrita News is following the same path as other visual news channels and this practice will continue until non-believers in the editorial team of Amrita News is thrown out like the garbage that they are.
