Report from New Indpress

VILLUPURAM: Exposing the deep-seated animosities and divisions within the fold, over 20,000 caste Christians of Eraiyur village have threatened to revert to Hinduism unless a seperate parish was provided to the Dalit Christians there.

A parish in Eraiyur village was devastated by violent clashes between two groups a fortnight ago. It all started with the Arch Bishop Antony Anandarayar permitting Dalit Christians to undertake a funeral procession on

Church Road

, a privilege they have been denied for more than a century. Amidst tight security the procession was taken out.

Protesting against this, the caste Christians have boycotted prayer sessions at the St Rosary Church for the past three days.

Anandarayar assured that none would be discriminated in church on any ground and this has not gone well with the caste Christians who have accused the bishop of not considering the sentiments of the majority. They have also stated that by the decree an age-old custom and tradition has been broken.

Meanwhile, Anandarayar has stated that politics and caste must not be allowed in Christianity and that such instances would affect peace in the village.

The caste Christians have wanted the Arch Diocese to provide a separate Parish to the Dalit Christians, who had set up St Sahaya Madha Church in the Dalit colony.

A total of 20,000 Vanniya Christians have threatened to revert to Hinduism if the Diocese ignores their demand. In this regard a memorandum has been submitted to the District Collector, DRO, RDO and Arch Diocese, Puducherry and Cuddalore.

Now the cat has come out of the bag. All the world Christians organizations have to come out with their policy and pack up from

India

as for as conversion activities are concerned. They have to review the failure of Christ in

India

.

2.

The Christians have been suppressing their differences prevalent in their religion – the denominations running into thousands throughout the world. It is not so simple that Catholics and Protestants fighting and killing with each other as in

Ireland

and

England

. Not the DRCs have been fighting with each others.

3.

The UN Commission for Apartheid long back exposed the Biblical background behind the racial discrimination. Actually, the theology supports their discrimination.

4.

If the Indian politicians renounce their politics of reservation policy (casteist and communal), then automatically, all these problems would come to an end. As “Dalit” word has become illegal, the Christians cannot oursue their dubious business now, as the SCs would have known by this time, that it is useless to be Christians. Of course, with Mammon, they can do anything and that is different.

Already, the Mohammedans have realized that the 3.5% reservation given to them under SEBC would dilute their Quranic sanctity. In fact, the orthodoxy has been against the secular / liberal Mohammedans for their playing into the hands of politicians.

6.

If the Vanniyars convert to Hindu religion or continue in Christianity, that makes no difference. But, such re-conversion process would create more social problems.

7.

In fact, it is not at all “converting” to Hindu religion. They are just renouncing the Christianity. This is again theologically serious. Is that thousands of people could go on change their gods just like this? Could thousands of believers have one god for ten years, another god for another ten years and so on? Then what sort of believers, they are? How the religious heads could keep quite?

8.

This type of fooling, cheating and defrauding gods is not good for any religion.

9.

As these Christians and Mohammedans have been aiding, abetting and colluding with the so-called “unbelievers”, atheists and the followers of EVR and others, it is evident that their religions have been corrupted and degraded.

10.

Therefore, it is right time that each religion in

India

maintains their individuality, uniqueness and purity and the respective believers faithfully follow their Gods.
