Rashtriya Sikh Sangat criticises imposition of jazia on Sikhs
Rashtriya Sikh Sangat criticised the imposition of jazia on the Sikhs in Pakistan by Taliban. In a press statement issued in New Delhi
Sikh Sangat international president Sardar Gurcharan Singh Gill
demanded immediate withdrawal of the tax and warned the Government of
Pakistan of stronger protests world over.
Talibans have levied the
jazia on Sikhs, before occupying the houses of Sikhs kidnapping one
Sardar Jaiwant Singh. The Sikhs were forced to pay Rs 20 millions. Shri Gill said the Sikhs in Pakistan are forced to pay double tax—one to the Government of Pakistan and other to the Talibans.
At the time when the world is becoming a global village, the
intolerance in any part of the world will make the things unfavorable
for the global unity.
