Police suspect Haneef – Al-Qaeda link
Australian Police will investigate a possible link between al-Qaeda and Indian doctor Mohammed Haneef, who was released from police custody last week after charges were dropped in connection with a terrorist bomb plot in the U.K.
Accordingly to SBS Television, Haneef must have come into contacts with members of terrorist entities, citing an Indian police document that carried al-Qaeda in its headline.
Meanwhile, an Indian intelligence agencies strongly suspect Haneef had links with Al-Qaeda. He remains under surveillance in India by at least two law enforcement agencies, the report said.
Australian Federal Police Commissioner Mick Keelty yesterday said Haneef could face further charges.
