Maldives Museum Reopens Minus Smashed Hindu Images

The Maldives’ national museum which faced the ire of Islamists for preserving the Nations Pre Islamic Hindu and Buddhist history reopened Tuesday but without images of Buddha and Hindu gods. According AP reports, 99 percent of the Maldives’ pre-Islamic artifacts from before the 12th century, when most inhabitants were Buddhists or Hindus, were destroyed.The mob of Muslim extremists attacked the museum during the Maldives’ unfolding political crisis.

In a statement ,Eminent Indologist Stephen Knapp while condemning the developments told -“This is an example of unfortunate circumstances that cloud the ancient history of various parts of the world. In our attempts to preserve and protect the Vedic traditions, wherever they may be, it is obvious that a growing trend around the world is at odds with that goal. It shows that as things continue in this way of terrorist demands and actions, the world will become less aware of it true past and the various spiritual cultures that existed thousands of years ago. Let us try to work to prevent that from happening.”
