Ireland Vacates Vatican

Dublin: Ireland announced the closure of it’s embassy to Vatican over child sexual abuse by catholic clergy. The Irish government has announced the closure of its embassy to the Vatican, starkly illustrating that relations between Dublin and the Catholic Church are at an historically glacial low.

Irish Prime Minister, Enda Kenny, accusing Rome of trying to sabotage official inquiries. He has already accused the Church of “dysfunction, disconnection, elitism and narcissism”, which he claimed dominated the culture of the Vatican.Ireland is the first major Catholic nation to break ties with Vatican.

According to Vaiju Naravane , Senior Journalist from Europe for The Hindu – “Ireland is the first major Catholic nation to break ties with the Vatican over the child sex abuse issue. Other closures are likely to follow, now that Ireland has shown the way.”
