Implement Indo-Lanka accord to protect Lankan Tamils: VHP
Madurai, Nov16: VHP leader Praveen Togadia has stressed the need to implement the “Rajiv Gandhi-Jayawardene”accord in letter and spirit as it gave better protection for the Tamils living in Sri Lanka.
Talking to newsmen here today, he said Tamil Nadu and Central government should press the Sri Lankan government to implement the accord, and ask the island government to allow the Red cross society and other voluntary organisations to work in the Tamil areas devastated by the war.
“We suspect the Sri Lankan government’s motive as it was not allowing even the red-cross society and the voluntary organisations and independent agencies to help the Tamils,” he said, regretting that many temples in the country were without priests.
He said the Viswamangala Gomatha Village Yatra, which was expected to pass through nine thousand villages, had collected 10 lakh signature urging thegovernment to declare Cow as a National animal, and provide grant for those who were rearing cows. The nation should revert to “Natural farming” using bio-fertilisers,he added.
