The reason for the murder was that Abhilash had started a BMS unit in Vasupuram. Abhilash was a former CPM activist.

Abhilash, who had launched a BMS union of auto drivers in the area, was murdered in a heinous way after chopping off his legs and palms.

Abhilash was having lunch with the first witness in the case when the accused came in a group and challenged him to come out. He was hacked when stepped out.

It was his co-auto rickshaw driver who went to his house and took him out. At this time, the culprits reached the spot on bike with swords and hacked him to death. Convict number one is an LLB student.

Killers demanded their transfer to Kannur central jail. They were taken to Viyyur central jail. First accused Shanto heaped abuses at Abhilash’s parents who were present in court to witness the verdict.
