Al-Zarqawi : A deadly terrorist behind numerous beheadings

via HK published on June 9, 2006

“We have eliminated Zarqawi.” The head of US-led forces in Iraq, General George Casey, said the strike against an “isolated safe house” took place at 1815 (1415 GMT) on Wednesday. An F-16 jet dropped two 500-pound bombs on the house, one jet acted as a targeting guide while the other first dropped a laser-guided bomb to ensure the house was hit, and then followed with a satellite-guided bomb to ensure it was destroyed.

Abu Musab al-Zarqawi was a ‘holy warrior’ for the Islamic Jihadis around the world. But he was one of the deadly Islamic terrorists responsible for beheading of numerous innocent people and the mastermind behind scores of suicide bombing in Iraq and other part of the world.

The first time Al-Zarqawi’s name is mentioned was in relation to the thwarted attack on the Radisson SAS Hotel in Amman, Jordan, during the millennium celebrations (December 1999).

According to intelligence agencies, he had previously gone under another name: Ahmed Fadil Al-Khalayleh,

Al Zarqawi fled Afghanistan to Iran in late 2001, following the entry of US troops. Official US reports suggest that he was protected at the highest levels of the Tehran government.

In 2002, his presence in Tehran, allegedly “collaborating with hardliners” in the Iranian military and intelligence apparatus, is part of an evolving disinformation campaign which consists in presenting Iran as a sponsor of the Islamic terror network.

In February 2002, he was allegedly involved in planning terror attacks inside Israel. Al-Zarqawi’s network was blamed for the 2003 suicide bombing of U.N. headquarters in Baghdad that killed Sergio Vieira de Mello, the U.N. envoy to Iraq, and 21 other people.

As per US intelligent agencies Zarqawi himself is believed to have decapitated number of western hostages including two innocent American citizens.

Sombat Bigley, the window of Ken Bigley who was beheaded by Zarqawi told British reporters: “He’s dead, he’s dead, it’s good. I’m happy.”

“I feel very hurt for Ken losing his life. I hope my husband saw him die, I hope my husband is happy that the man who killed him is dead.” Mrs. Sombat told the HK media.

Ken, 62, a civil engineer from Liverpool was kidnapped in Baghdad in September 2004 and held for three weeks before being callously murdered.

Zarqawi has met his end and this Jihadi will never murder again. Its a victory in the global war on Islamic terrorism.
