A stigma on the so called largest democracy – US Hindu organisation on Baba Ramdev episode

via Press Release published on June 5, 2011

“Brutality against H. H. Ramdev Baba’s peaceful agitation reminiscent of Jallianwala Bagh massacre !”

New Jersey, USA. On 4th June in India’s capital city New Delhi, selfless Yoga Guru H. H. Ramdev Baba started a historic, nonviolent agitation against corruption in India, involving His fast unto death. One of the main demands of this agitation is that the Indian government bring back the black money stashed away by corrupt Indian officials in Swiss banks. On the night of 4th June, the Indian police brutally dispersed the peaceful agitation using tear gas and arresting H. H. Ramdev Baba (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-south-asia-13658695), and H. H. Ramdev Baba was no longer allowed to be in the capital city.

Forum for Hindu Awakening (FHA), USA based nonprofit Hindu spiritual organization, deplores the brutal treatment meted out to this peaceful agitation. This action by the Indian government is a stigma on the so called largest democracy of the world. It is reminiscent of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, but worse still, as these atrocities have been committed by the Indian government on its own people !

The Indian government had announced back in 2008 itself that they would bring back the black money stashed away in Swiss banks by year 2011; however that has not happened yet. Instead the Indian government has committed atrocities against this peaceful agitation by H. H. Ramdev Baba and His supporters. It shows the total apathy of the Indian government towards curbing corruption and shows how low this government has stooped morally. The government has now lost all its moral standing and right to remain in power.

Only a selfless leader like Yoga Guru H. H. Ramdev Baba is capable of initiating such a successful movement. Forum for Hindu Awakening is proud of all the supporters and participants of this movement. We will continue to extend our full support to this peaceful agitation even in future !
