BANGALORE: The state government is set to pay monthly honorarium for Pesh Imams and Mouzans working in Wakf institutions in the state.

Minister for Minorities and Wakf Qamarul Islam on Sunday said that the state government has issued orders to introduce this monthly honorarium scheme for Pesh Imams and Mouzans.

“A monthly honorarium of Rs. 3,100 to the Pesh Imams and Rs. 2,500 to Mouzans will be paid by the government after completion of every three months,” Islam said in a statement here.

The scheme will be applicable to those wakf institutions whose income is less than Rs. 1 lakh per annum, he said.

The Karnataka State Wakf Board will obtain Attendance Certificate in respect of the Pesh Imams and Mouzans serving in the respective wakf institutions, scrutinise them as per rules and send proposals to government for sanction of honorarium, Islam said.  After the government sanctions and releases the honorarium to the Board, it will be released to the respective accounts of Pesh Imams and Mouzans online.
