Murder of RSS leader Manoj: CPM’s Acts of Escapism when CBI Probe is Ordered

published on September 10, 2014

The CPM has now begun a planned tactical move, in apparent fear of the CBI inquiry being initiated into murder of RSS leader Manoj. According to media reports, the central leadership of CPM is said to have taken anticipatory bail. A recent Politburo meeting is said to have expressed dissatisfaction at the inquiry initiated into Manoj’s murder and has sought a report from state leadership.

It is also a curious aspect as to why the central leadership of CPM has not refuted the mounting allegations of the politics of bloodshed it has been involved in. Instead, it has always stood in support of the state leadership, as seen in the justifications offered in the brutal murder of Kannur district secretary of BJP Pannyannoor Chandran, state vice president of Yuva Morcha KT Jayakrishnan Master etc. In fact, the stand taken by central leadership has only striven to strengthen the violent activities being indulged in by Kannur CPM.

Take for instance, the murder of TP Chandrashekharan, where the central leadership has shielded those chargesheeted by the court. They also stood in league with the Congress government that ruled the Centre formerly, in thwarting a CBI inquiry.

The central leadership of CPM now relies heavily on Kerala, after their base in west Bengal crumbled down. Prakash Karat, on his part, has taken the stand of wholehearted justification of the Pinarayi Vijayan faction, which has pruned down the Achuthanandan faction mercilessly. It is the Pinarayi faction which is allegedly behind the murders in Kannur. And this has, not even once, been subject to scrutiny by Prakash Karat.

However, with the change in Central government, the CPM now stands wary of CBI inquiry. This is a glaring contrast to their defiant stand seen, during the days of TP murder. The central leadership of CPM is fully aware of the fact that an investigation will ensnare them as well, when evidences point to the actual perpetrators. And this is precisely why they are now scrambling to maintain an arm’s distance.

Prakash Karat, during his visit in Kerala at Sreekandapuram, had made an exhortation that the ideally suited model to tackle the RSS has been best functioning in Kannur, which is worthy of being emulated. Karat’s exhortation is akin to validating the politics of bloodshed, giving a clarion call for its unbridled furthering. Following Karat’s encouragement, Manoj was subject to a gruesome murder by CPM goons. It is very clear that these very aspects will come under scrutiny when CBI looks into the nuances of conspiracy that preceded the murder.

And that precisely is the reason for these ensuing acts of escapism.
