Absentia Funeral Prayer Conducted in Hyderabad for Architects of Paris Terror Strike

A ‘Gayabana Namaz-e-Janaza’ or funeral prayer in absentia was held in Hyderabad led by Jihadi cleric Maulana Naseeruddin, for the architects of the French terror strike, which happened last week. The Jihadis were two brothers Cherif and Said Kouachi, who attacked the French satire magazine Charlie Hebdo killing 12 people.

Maulana Naseeruddin is a controversial cleric who was earlier associated with Jamat-e-Islami leader. This time, he has praised the Jihadis of Paris attack as ‘Khatilan-e-Dushmanan-e-Rasool (killers of the enemies of Prophet)’.

According to sources, the funeral prayer was conducted under the banner of Wahdat-e-Islami. It was attended by as many as 50 people. An Urdu banner was placed at the meeting, which read “Absentia funeral prayer of martyrs who took insulters of prophet to logical end.”

Naseeruddin also seemed to be instigating Muslims to take law into their hands to safeguard the Prophet’s integrity when he said, “When there is no Islamic government, it is the individual Muslim’s responsibility to execute the punishment. We fully support their (Paris killers) act and hence we are here for funeral prayer.”

 “May Allah pardon Saeed and Shariff, the two youths who avenged enemies of our beloved prophet. May Allah protect their family, relatives and friends from torture and arrest. Those Muslims, who have been arrested on the basis of suspicion, may Allah grant them release,” Maulana Naseeruddhin is said to have stated in a meeting, following the prayer services.

He further went on to support the spate of terror indulged in by the brothers, justifying the killings. “There is a fatwa that if a person mocking our beloved prophet is still standing alive than our (Muslims) lives are worthless. Insulting Prophet Mohammed (pbuh) is a heinous crime, and Allah ordered death sentence for the person in the Quran. It was in accordance to human values and according to Shariat,” he said.

Naseeruddhin and his family are suspected Jihadis, the Maulana himself being arrested twice for suspected involvement in Sai Baba temple blast case and Haren Pandya assassination case. His two sons were arrested by Madhya Pradesh ATS in connection with alleged involvement in SIMI conspiracy case. The youngest one is currently serving a prison term in Karnataka for a terror conspiracy case.
