Is Thangal head of the state?

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Panakkadu  Mohammed Ali Shihab Thangal, the  Muslim  League leader, has gone to United States for medical treatment. Mathrubhumi, the so called national daily, has carried a colour picture of Thangal getting into the car from his palatial mansion at Malappuram on his way to the US for treatment. The daily has also published a four column news on the US visit of Thangal.

It is ridiculous to note that all these leaders who spit venom on the US for its attack on Iraq and the move to take stringent action against Iran rush to the Uncle Sam for treating. They are silent on the fact that US is one of the largest democracies in the world where even a slight violation of human rights is considered as a big crime.

Two facts come to one’s mind after seeing the picture of Thangal’s departure to the US. As an ardent or staunch Islamist, why he chose to go to US instead of Saudi Arabia or Pakistan? I have seen Muslim League leaders shouting from the rooftops that the US was an incarnation of Satan and was bent upon destroying the Islamic world. The same Muslim League leaders protested all over India when President George Bush paid a state visit in February 2006.   

The departure of Presidents and Prime Ministers are prominently displayed in TV channels and newspapers. But who is Thangal? He is only the president of the state unit of a communal organization. Mathrubhumi is free to publish whatever news which is of interest to   its owner. But since it claims that it is a national daily, should it have the courage to publish the news on the woes of the Hindus in the country?

The paper underplayed the gruesome murder of 30 tribals at Chattisgargh by the Maoist terrorists. We all know how this so called national daily owned by the pot-bellied planter  ignored the travails of the Hindus at Marad and went on bashing the Hindus.
