RSS issue: Asianet stands exposed
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The News Hour programme broadcast by Asianet News channel and Venu Balakrishnan, the news presenter stand exposed before the audience because of the prejudiced view the channel and presenter have for Rashtreeya Swayam Sevak Sangh.
The News Hour on Thursday was focusing on rumors about the strained relations between the Sangh and senior Pracharak PP Mukundan. It is known to one and all that both Sangh and PP Mukundan are the favourite whipping boys of the media, especially the Communist controlled (though surreptitiously) Asianet channel. Asianet News gave a Flash News on Thursday that Mukundan has been removed as the Pracharak of the Sangh. “We learnt from highly reliable sources in the Sangh that Mukundan was removed as Pracharak of RSS,†read Venu, a card holding member of the CPI(M).
There were two guests in the News Centre along with Venu on Thursday night. Both the guests told Venu that they were in the dark about this development. Then Venu played a tape featuring RSS Kerala leader AR Mohanan who made it clear that both Venu and Asianet failed to observe the Madhyama Dharma. “You could have asked us about the authenticity and veracity of such a report,†said A.R. Mohanan. Speaking over the phone from Kochi, A.R. Mohanan told the channel viewers that it was very unfortunate that they jumped into conclusion before ascertaining the facts from any of the concerned agencies.
Venu Balakrishan, also a card holding member of the CPI(M), has emerged as the star catch of the party for deleting news which the AKG Centre finds inconvenient. He never fails to give his own description and adjectives to Narendra Modi while reporting news items featuring the same. What has happened because of people like Venu Balakrishnan is that the ethics associated with news reporting have taken a beating.
