Mind your words, Asianet

Happened to watch a ‘Hot News’ item on Asianet on 29/09/2006 evening followed by your ‘Flash News’ about the presence of RSS activists in Kerala Police.  Asianet’s ”allegation” was that both NDF and RSS activists had infiltrated in Kerala Police. Is it not absurd for a leading TV channel to compare a deadly terrorist outfit with a patriotic organization?

Asianet’s ‘investigation team’ had found out that two RSS activists, including a ‘Pracharak’, had entered Kerala Police. Asianet should understand it is not just two swayamsevaks who serve in Kerala Police but their numbers are in hundreds. They did not sneak or infiltrate into the department but joined the service in the proper and regular way. Being a citizen of India, every one has the right to support any ideological organization. There are thousands of swayamsevaks working as IAS officers, they hold senior positions in Indian defence forces, state/central police departments, central investigation and intelligence agencies etc.

So the ‘allegation’ made by the Asianet is simply ridiculous. Does Asianet want that Swayamsevaks should not work anywhere and should remain jobless? If swayamsevaks can hold the positions of Indian Vice President, Prime Minster and Home Minister, why can’t an RSS activist work in Kerala Police?

There are four states in the country ruled by swayamsevak chief ministers where more than 50% of the population of the country lives, that is, nearly half a billion people are living safely under the chief ministers having Sangh background. Does Asianet know this?

Will Asianet complain to the President and Prime Minister to sack Olympic silver medallist shooter Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore from the defence services since he is a swayamsevak? Will this anti-national TV channel ask the Kerala government to ban P.T. Usha from any official sports function since she is a sympathizer of the RSS? 

This is the same channel that put out a bogus story a few months ago about the ‘removal’ of P.P. Mukundan from the post of RSS pracharak. Later, when an Asianet official called RSS state leaders to seek clarification, they responded by strongly trashing this false news. Next time, Asianet may think twice before making such calls to any Sangh leader for comment on non-issues.
