“Prison is the only place where Muslims are over-represented”!
This is in reference to Seema Chisthi’s report in TN Indian Express-30 Oct) “Prison is the only place where Muslims are over-represented”
It is not an ‘India specific’ malaise, as being sought to be made by the writer. Open source literature on the subject indicates some interesting facts. In France, Muslims constitute about 6% to 9% of the country’s population.Yet, their prison population is roughly 60% to 70% of total Muslim population.Similarly, a report by the U.K.Prison Service, indicates that the number of Muslims in prison increased threefold over a decade from 1993.In June 2002, the prison population of Muslims was 7% of all male prisoners, and 3% of all female prisoners. In Scotland where Muslims constitute 0.8% of the population, 1.3% of Muslims were in prison. In Italy, the percentage of the prison population that is Muslim is 14%, according to 2005 figures.
Irrespective of the bleeding-heart liberal excuses of low achievement and poor opportunities, no researchers have stated the obvious and unifying factor – Islam, and its belief that “kaffirs” are inferior. If one dehumanizes non-Muslims, it is easy to see them as targets.
Samuel Huntington,in his ‘Clash Of Civilizations’ thesis had written:†In all these places, the relations between Muslims and peoples of other civilizations- Catholic, Protestant, Orthodox, Hindu, Chinese, Buddhist, Jewish-have been antagonistic. Wherever one looks along the perimeter of Islam, Muslims have problems living peaceably with their neighboursâ€.
An India specific research by RNP Singh (retired IB officer) in ‘Riots& Wrongs’, corroborates the Huntington conclusions. Any wonder then high Muslim prison populations across the globe?
However, in ‘politically correct’ and ‘DHIMMI’ India, these issues will never be discussed in an open and intellectually honest environment. The ‘verbal terrorism’ of Indian ‘secularism’ will ensure that!!
