Pune:Orkut, an Internet social network service run by Google, has landed itself in trouble for posting derogatory remarks against Chhatrapati Shivaji. The police have initiated proceedings against the portal and work on filing a case under relevant sections of the IPC and IT Act was going on. Some of the community members too have registered online protest on the message board. The Pune police began proceedings after some NSUI workers complained on Thursday night. ACP (Crime) Rajendra Singh said the police had already written to the Delhi-based Controller of Certification Authority, Delhi and Orkut.com asking them to delete the remarks. Singh said the police would also seek details on identity of the community moderator. Meanwhile, Shiv Sena workers staged protests in various parts of the city throughout the day. A delegation of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha workers met deputy commissioner of police Sanjay Jadhav and demanded stringent action against Orkut. When the police pointed out that nobody had approached them to lodge a formal FIR, Ghate lodged one.
