CPM wants Hindu caste certificates for their converted comrades

Amaravila: The CPM who regularly plays the minority card has another glaring
example. In the Kollayil village of Neyyatinkara taluk of Kollam district, the CPM Panchayat members ‘imprisoned’ the village officer in his office for not issuing Hindu caste certificate to Converted Christians.

Eventhough the local people informed the Parassala police station; the Police told them that they will take action only if they receive complaint from the village office. This particular village office at Kollayil had issued several Hindu caste certificates to converted Christians earlier with the support of the local area committee of the CPM.

However due to the constant pressure of Hindu organisations, the new village
officer used to issue caste certificate only after proper investigation. Due to this reason many of the ‘chota comrades’ could not get Hindu caste certificate and the CPM leadership was upset over this.

This panchayat was govered by the CPM and the new village officer faced the wrath of the CPM thugs. But the village officer was not prepared to issue caste certificate to converted Christians. The CPM ward members of Nettukolla, Ezhuthukondankani, Udiyankulangara staged gherao and imprisoned the village officer for four hours. The Few Hindu CPM activists also expressed their displeasure in this appeasement of minorities by their party
