Kodiyeri Balakrishnan’s Existential Angst

Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, the Marxist Home Minister’s family has visited the famous Kadmpuzha Devi temple and performed poomudal (for Sathrusamharam)- to the powerful Kadampuzha devi on July 23. Several Marxist party members and the personal staff members of the minister accompanied Kodiyeri’s wife and son to the temple when they performed special poojas.He wants to ensure his election and victory and the success of his son’s Law school examination. There is nothing wrong in performing Hindu rituals and visiting Kadampuzha Devi temple for special favors. Marxist Partymen visit Hindu temples and perform archanas openly and clandestinely.

Kodiyeri’s kadampuzha temple visit and the controversy arising from it indicate that Marxist party leaders are caught between old, atheist Marxist system and new energized Hindu paradigm. Kodiyeri Balakrishnan’s Poomodal and Sathrusamhara Puja at Kadampuzha temple reminds us of a character in Albert Camu’s novel. The man was walking through a very narrow single bridge. He is in the middle. The past is pulling him from behind. The future is pulling from the front. Confused with the existential choice, the only alternative before him is to jump into the river and commit suicide. We are not advocating Marxist Party leaders suffering from existential angst to commit suicide or embrace denial, and shame. What we advocate is, do not surrender your spiritual capacity to non workable and ineffective, atheist Marxist system. Marxist leaders have to discover and embrace Hindu spirituality and practices.                                                             

The decades of Marxist indoctrination have left its mark on the Communists. Marxism has blunted their spiritual quest, obscured their vision, and they are not able to see reality as it is. It is time for the Marxists to free themselves from the shackles of Marxism. This means strengthening their Hindu roots and abandon the ideology of hatred and exclusiveness. Kodiyeri Balakrishnan is in deep spiritual confusion. Has he any faith, any philosophy of life that can give meaning to his existence, satisfy his spiritual need and save him from being driven headlong down the path of destruction?

Kodiyeri Balakrishnan devotion to Kadampuzha Devi may help him to find his Hindu roots again-which so many of secular Hindus have done as the sign of our times. More Marxists are still in confusion. But one thing seems to be emerging that only Hindu consciousness is the only way to prevent the collapse of our civilization.

 There is nothing wrong in Kodiyeri’s visit to the Devi Temple and fashion his life and culture in Hindutva. But Marxist Party leaders implicit and explicit denial of Hindu temple visits and practices is incredible arrogance. The best leaders are those who listen and embrace knowledge, wisdom and insight. It is as old as creation and as new as the infant who fist saw sunlight this morning. Are the Marxist leaders ready and willing? Only time can tell.
