13 year boy was sexually assaulted by C.M.S church priest

Chenganoor: – Priest Rajan Joseph alias Kochu mon (46) of CMS church, Perumthuruthi was arrested by Venmani police for sexually assaulting a boy here.


 


For last four months Rajan Jospeh was involved in a fraud fund raising activity for Nalu kodi St. Pauls church’s new building with a printed notice.


 


The incident was reported as, ‘Rajan Joseph went to a house in Koodukulanji, Venmani on Jan 29th as a part of his fund raising responsibility for C.M.S Church. He sexually assaulted the boy, 13 years old, and later accepted 50 rupees from child’s Grandmother, who was the only elder member present at that time. Later child mentioned about the priest’s behavior to his grandmother and she reported the abuse to the police.


 


 Rajan Joseph was later arrested by the local S.I Joseph Mathew and his subordinates. It is alleged that police deliberately tried to censor the involvement of a Christian priest in child abuse.


 


The child has identified Rajan Joseph after his arrest at Thungukulangara police station. C.M.S Bishop John said Rajan Joseph was working as a priest of their church but added that he wasn’t given any instruction to accept donation from public.
