Azaruddin,Rubina Ali and Sharad Goyekar – Why this Media Bias?

As usual this time too the Media shown it’s own colour. The Mainstream Medias which ran features after features on Slum dog Millionaire and it’s stars Azaruddin Mohammed and Rubina Ali Qureshi now totally ignores Sharad Goyekar.

Now Who is this Sharad Goyekar?

He is a Gypsy boy from the tribal village Rajuri in Junnar Taluk

So what ? What he did in comparison to Slumdod Millionaire Fames?

He also acted in a Movie ?

Which Movie?

Tingya, A Marathi Movie

So what that boy acted in a Marathi movie , afterall he haven’t got any awards like Azaruddin Muhammed and Rubina Ali?

How you know that?

Because we never saw any reports in visual or Daily news papers about this boy.

You are wrong, It was reported on the following day after announcement of National film awards

ok, So he received National award- Must have missed – Any how there are many names and we were bothered mainly about Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Film etc.

But you never missed the newses about Azaruddin Muhammed and Rubina Ali why?

Because it was highlighted in all Medias, No one wrote any special article about this boy- So how you expect us to know about him?

Sharad Goyekar- This 11 year old Tribal Gypsy boy bagged this years award for best child artist for his performance in the movie Tingya.

Released in 2007, “Tingya” is the story of a seven-year-old boy who unsuccessfully tries to save his injured and handicapped bull from the butcher’s knife to pay off the family’s debts. After the bull is slaughtered to save the family, a cow gives birth to a female calf; Tingya treats him as a bull and life goes on..The Movie also exposes about the most dark and turbulent times in the lives of farmers in India.The realistic and touching film has bagged nearly four dozen national and international awards.

Moved by the boys story , Prakash and Priya Patil, who run the reputed Sinhagad group of educational institutions in and around Pune adopted him and is providing him good education. For him who lived freely in the forests with grazing cows was hard initially to adjust with city life. Now in his new reputed school he topped first in Sanskrit and secured 70 % mark in rest of the subjects. He is now competing with the rest of the wards whose annual feee is minimum annual fee is Rs.125,000 per student.

Hadawale, The Director of the movie,  said it was sad that despite Sharad bagging multiple awards including National Award and so many other honours for his performance, the state government had not taken any note of him – unlike the Mumbai slum children who acted in the Oscar-winning movie, “Slumdog Millionaire.” His parents won’t have a permanent piece of land to settle down.
