An open letter to CPI(M) / Christian channel NDTV

Your programme ‘We the People’ telecast on 15th Sept by Burkha Dutt was very disappointing. I am sure the public wanted to hear what Dr.Subramanian Swamy and others had to say, but the communist Raja kept butting in and did not let him talk much. All the participants in the discussion should have been allowed to have their full say, but Burkha seemed to think that the commie professor from DU should be given more time to say what he wanted to, not withstanding the fact that Communist historians are notorious for distorting our History!
It was shocking to hear Barkha refer to the stories of the great epic Ramayana,as ‘old wives’ tales’. Most Indian children must have heard the interesting stories of the Ramayana and the Mahabharata from their grand-parents if they were fortunate to grow up under their loving care. Burkha must have had anglican parents/grand-parents! ‘Amar Chitra Katha’ also has brought out stories of the Ramayana and Mahabharata, which every Indian child must know. Most of the places mentioned in the two great epics of India are still there. They are the most ancient history books of India, whether secular fundamentalists accept it or not. You see, the marxist historians were not around then to manipulate them!
There are many experts who have done extensive research on the SSCP, from various angles, which include the effect of the project on the biosphere, the economic viability of the project and so on. Govt officials will naturally toe the Govt line, for obvious reasons! But media houses should be unbiased and should have the courage to present the truth to the people. Rama Setu is not only important from a religious and cultural point of view, being the most ancient man-made( or monkey-made)bridge and therefore the most ancient Heritage Site in the world! Every patriot would want to preserve such a monument. Only anti-nationals would want to destroy their heritage! Ask the experts whether the SSCP is really a development project, and the answer would be a categoric ‘No!’.
Regards,
