Gujarat election: Major setback for the pseudo-secular media

via HK Correspondent published on December 23, 2007

NEW DELHI – Many people believe that the media can influence the society by projecting an individual or a political party or an organization negatively. The Gujarat election verdict proves that the media cannot influence the Indian people anymore as they are more intelligent than what the media thinks.

During the Gujarat election, the entire visual and print media in the country launched vicious and blatantly untruthful attacks against the hugely popular Narendra Modi. They wrote a number of negative articles and showed many biased video clips about Modi. Some channels sent their selected journalists to Gujarat 15 days before the election. They all did their best to spoil the image of Modi and broadcasted or printed hundreds of untrue articles or visual clips against Modi.

From Kerala, the notorious CPM-controlled Kairali channel and the Christian-funded Malayala Manorama TV (MMTV) sent their selected journalists (all staunch anti-Hindus) much before the Gujarat election. While MMTV did not get any senior leader in Gujarat to speak against Modi, they called an ex-police officer Sreekumar (a pro-communist) to talk against whom the people consider the ‘Lion of Gujarat’.

Kairali’s journalist went to a village in Gujarat where the Modi government had provided free electricity to farmers for 14 hours a day. This yellow journalist choose to shoot his camera exactly when there was a power shutdown for some maintenance work and passed his judgment thus, “I am standing at a place where Modi claims to have provided free electricity for 14 hours but there is no power here now, so Modi is lying”.

The intelligent people of Gujarat ignored all these bogus allegations by the hard-core anti-Hindu media and chose Modi as their leader once again.

The Gujarat election is both a lesson and a hard slap in the face of India’s pseudo-secular media giants, perhaps the most untruthful in the civilized world. They must understand that the people of India no longer give any credibility to them. The people of Gujarat have said this: “Let the anti-national media bark, we are not going to listen.”

India’s, particularly Kerala’s, shameless pseudo-secular media must understand that the people who voted for BJP in Gujarat are not fools. They voted for BJP as they feel more secure under the government of a nationalist party. They are getting justice and are happy. The media has clearly failed to spoil their happiness. Will they learn at least now?
