RSS karyavahak’s murder : Kerala visual media’s double standards exposed

via HK Correspondent published on December 26, 2007

ALAPPUZHA : A few days back, when two CPI(M) activists were murdered in Palakkad, Kerala’s visual media were fiercely competing with each other to expose the story with maximum coverage including discussions and investigative reports. They could manage to keep the story alive for more than a week.

Even Amrita’s news team (run by comrades) carried the news about the death of the CPI(M) activist Pavithran as their top story in the Gulf edition news on the same day. Other channels too gave the story maximum coverage, even going to the victims’ houses and taking video clips of their close relatives to evoke the sympathy of as many members of the public as possible. While Asianet specially aired the CPI(M) activists murder story in their FIR program, MMTV included it in their ‘Top Reporter’ program with huge coverage.

But where are all these channels today? Are they alive? Why these pseudo-secular channels keeping mum when the young RSS taluk karvayhak Vinod (25) was murdered near his house by a group of Islamic terrorists (NDF) yesterday? Why are they silent when a Swayamsevak is murdered? What is the hidden force behind these channels which blacked out this story? For the Kerala channels, does the color of a swayamsevak’s blood look different from that of a comrade? Do these anti-Hindu channels think swayamsevaks don’t have parents or relatives who are concerned about their lives?

Amrita News carried the story of the swayamsevak’s murder with the bare minimum coverage today, just two minutes before the end of their news bulletin. So one can understand how much importance they attach to this killing. By sidelining this story, Amrita insulted the victim and the organization to which he belonged.

The visual channels, which are supposed to tell true stories to the masses, look handicapped today, due to which majority of the people in Kerala are not aware about this brutal murder of an RSS worker by an Islamic terrorist group called NDF yesterday night.

Each Hindu in the state must ask this question to these media giants who keep repeating that they are following journalistic ethics and are not partial in their news bulletins. Their double standards have been exposed once again today.
